Owner / Master Falconer
Hi! I’m Civon. I have loved birds of prey since as long as I can remember, and when I saw a falconer for the first time as a child I knew I had to be one myself someday. When I was 12 years old I found a master falconer to sponsor me. I passed the written examination on my first try (by 1 point!) and got my first redtail hawk soon after that. Fast forward a couple of decades and here I am in Las Vegas still involved with a sport I love and one of the lucky few who have been able to turn a hobby into a career opportunity.
When Dave and I met he was just about to leave for a summer job working in Washington state as an abatement contractor using a team of birds of prey to protect blueberries from pest birds like robins and starlings. (See the “photo gallery” for pictures.) Not yet being familiar with bird abatement, but intrigued, I flew up there several times that summer–and several time during the next two summers as well–to help out.
I grew a lot as a falconer during those trips since abatement requires being able to handle as many as a dozen different birds in a day. When I’m not traveling around for falconry-related activities or spending time with my three amazing dogs, I spend my average Monday through Friday as a dentist here in Las Vegas. To my parents’ relief, I took their advice and chose a regular career that would allow me the time and resources to continue practicing my favorite hobby on the side. However, when the opportunity came up to purchase Nevada Pigeon Control, Dave and I knew it was our chance to really prove that our decades of combined experience, knowledge, and passion for birds would be an asset that no competitor could duplicate, giving us an edge in the market.
As a medical professional I personally value ethics, honesty, integrity, and quality over all other motivating factors. One of the reasons Dave and I live and work together so well is that he shares the same innate values. Together, we demonstrate those values to our employees and with them to our customers. All of us at Airborne Wildlife Control Service look forward to showing you what we’re made of!
